Moses went up on the mountain to meet God who called to him, telling him to let the people of the house of Jacob know that ‘they should have seen how I safely removed them from Egypt on eagles wings bringing them safely to me’. ‘The only thing that I ask is for them to faithfully listen to me and keep my commandments and for that I will keep them as my special treasure.’ God continued, “I made the earth and everything in it, but the people of Israel will be special and considered as a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.

Most of us make every attempt to do the right thing, staying on the right side of the law, especially when it comes to things that we know will get us in trouble. There is no reason for us to stray from what we know to be the right thing, unless we simply don’t care about the consequences. Through our lifetime we will experience many victories and defeats, but the one that matters the most is the one where we fight of evil temptations.

The last few months in the Gulf have been anything but promising due the the BP oil spill disaster. Many fishermen were affected, or expected to be affected, yet BP trudged slowly on to help clean up their mess, all the while hoping that they could bring things back to normal. The shrimping season has officially begun, with a small percent of shrimpers hitting the waters with high hopes and aspirations, however, so far that seems to be nothing but a pipe dream. It is expected to pick up in the coming weeks, but sadly until that time, despondent fishermen will continue to venture out into the open waters, with a simple prayer, bring in the fish.

The word relates that, “The canals will become stagnant and stink, every stream touching the Nile dry up. River vegetation will rot away the banks of the Nile-baked clay, The riverbed hard and smooth, river grasses dried up and gone with the wind. Fishermen will complain that the fishing’s been ruined. Wherever the river flows, life will flourish, great schools of fish, because the river is turning the salt sea into fresh water. Where the river flows, life abounds. Fishermen will stand shoulder to shoulder along the shore from En-gedi all the way north to En-eglaim, casting their nets. The sea will teem with fish of all kinds, like the fish of the Great Mediterranean.”

Fishermen are very worried about their future in the fishing industry and rightly so, however, they should remember that it is God who provides for their livelihood. Even though things look a bit rough right now, we should adopt the attitude that “Where there is shrimp, there is hope”. Realizing that most of us have a hard time letting go and allowing God to take control of our lives, we should keep in mind, all this time He has been providing for us anyway, so I am willing to bet that he will continue to do so.

It is public knowledge, to those who will listen that God is ready and willing to forgive us of our sins. Yes salvation is in fact available to everyone who asks for it. Our new life can begin right now and you too can be ready when our Savior returns in the clouds on that glorious day.
Unfortunately many today have chosen to turn their backs on our savior and the precious gift that he has offered us. God sent his only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, yet we refuse to accept him, not only do we not wish to accept him, but we suggest to others that we do not even want to hear his name.
Sadly, even though God has allowed his son to be sacrificed to save us, we are determined to keep him out of our lives. Some actually go one step further and trample on his law. A simple list of choices that help us to live a cleaner life.

One of the reasons why God liked Noah was because he listened to him. Noah never once questioned God when he instructed him to build the ark. The fact of the matter is, Noah probably looked like he was crazy when he began the construction of such a vessel. He still completed his task, even though he was ridiculed by all.

Even though Moses did not feel as though he was capable of carrying out God’s  instructions, he still went forth and did everything that God asked him to do. When things looked the bleakest for him and the Egyptians, he allowed God to use him to part the red sea and allow Gods people to reach to safety.

Because of the sins of Adam and Eve, God knows that we are sinners, yet he has not forced us to repent, neither is he going to. Forgiveness of sin is available to us, but we Must accept it ourselves, nothing is required but asking for forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ.

When  we choose to engage in sin, what we are actually doing is voting to allow sin to remain in the world and live and breathe alongside us. We should never vote for sin, as that also tells God that we prefer to remain here right where we are, regardless of the consequences.

A life of sin is as bad as a life in prison, simply because we are under the control of the Evil one. True freedom is the ability to live a sin free life under the guidance of God and all of his wishes, which are primarily for us to achieve true happiness.

We will never receive true happiness here on earth, especially with the presence of sin. Human beings were never intended to live a sinful live, in fact sin destroys our ability to enjoy freedom as it was intended. A life filled with Jesus Christ and all that is good is true Freedom.

So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us, who was raised to life for us! Is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture: They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one. None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing, nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable, absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

Earlier there were a lot of priests, for they died and had to be replaced. But Jesus’ priesthood is permanent. He’s there from now to eternity to save everyone who comes to God through him, always on the job to speak up for them.

He wants not only us but everyone saved, you know, everyone to get to know the truth we’ve learned: that there’s one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us, Jesus, who offered himself in exchange for everyone held captive by sin, to set them all free. Eventually the news is going to get out. This and this only has been my appointed work: getting this news to those who have never heard of God, and explaining how it works by simple faith and plain truth.

I write this, dear children, to guide you out of sin. But if anyone does sin, we have a Priest-Friend in the presence of the Father: Jesus Christ, righteous Jesus. When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good, not only ours, but the whole world’s.
