I have not had the pleasure of spending too much time around horses, although if I had one, I would want the horse to be shorter than most horses, if only for the fact that I could get up on it that much easier. When I was much younger, like most kids I dreamt about what it would be like to own my own pony, of course that dream was never brought to a reality. I used to visit the stables at the track, but it was not to prepare for the upcoming horse racing event, it was so I could admire the horses. Everyone who stopped by the track did so in order to get a better feel for the horses before they decided which horse they would place a bet on, however the owners opinion on visitors was simple, do you know how to bet and do you need help on how to bet on it. Figuring out where to bet will be all about which horse is the better one and can you afford to put a few dollars down on a sure thing.

Great post. I too love to go to the racetrack and dream. Iprefer the stable area just to watch the daily work that goes into caring for them. walking, washing, tacking up, about everything. I prefer it to the clubhouse where the betting goes on. Or I prefer the ‘Kentucky Fried Chicken’ section…down by the wire at the finish line where people eat KFC and drink beer. It is a most interesting section between races.
There are some short horses tho that you would enjoy. They all aren’t 15hands.
