How far should we go to protect ourselves

As governmental agencies change hands it is very common for their political affiliation to change. These days with the Whitehouse being controlled by Democratic leaders, there should be no surprise when they show that they are out for blood from past political figures like Donald Rumsfeld. As much as his methods were successful in keeping the citizens of this country safe, this is nothing but a personal vendetta against a politician who was simply trying to do his job.

We are all aware that some officials are not  truly representative of the way the majority of the country thinks, but when they have prisoners detained and allegedly tortured that makes it very intolerably. In this particular case there is a good argument for such forceful methods, especially since the defendants have explicitly determined that they are out to terminate all Americans.

I would venture to say that as a country, (whether Democrat or Republican) we should be ready to use every method available to us to remove the possibility of attacks by these terrorists, and if it is concluded that the constitution does not allow for excessive force, then it needs to be changed. The official stance of the United States of America should be persuasive to the fact that we are prepared to do whatever it takes to stop the senseless attacks on innocent lives. We all need to come down to earth and understand that our attackers do not care about our rights, why then should we concern ourselves about theirs.
