When it is time for me to retire from behind the wheel I can only hope that I am able to find someone who is willing to take me around to the places that I must go. Sadly, many of us are forced to drive ourselves to our desired destination, a fact that can only affect those that are using the nations roads. A 64 year old woman appeared as a silhouette as she careened into two parked police cars and ended up causing four officers and herself to be taken to the emergency room. Drivers of a certain age should be subjected to a class that will ensure that they are still capable of handling the wheel, and of course staying awake.

Drunk driving is bad enough for an adult, but when the individual who is intoxicated happens to have two of his children in the car with him, well that is purely irresponsible. If a parent or guardian is responsible for their kids they should not be out drinking, especially to the extent where they have had too much to drink. If you get bored or you just manage to lose track of time, the next step is to call a taxi and ensure that everyone makes it home safely. Billy Joe Madden was so intoxicated that he turned over the wheel of his Chevy truck to his eight year old son, while he slept in the passenger seat. After being pulled over for his action, Madden is now behind bars. One minute he was having a good time, the next thing he knew he is facing a bevy of charges along with the loss of his two kids.

After everything that the United States has been through to help bring Iraq out from under the feet of Saddam Hussein and his cronies, you would think that we learned our lesson. I do not think that booking 36 F-16 fighter jets by a country is such a good idea. It is not that I don’t think that Iraq needs to be able to defend themselves, it is more that the freedom they strive for may not be able to be kept under wraps, especially with all the unrest in the countries around them. The last thing we need is three dozen fighter jets being used against us.

There is absolutely no reason why the federal government should be fighting amongst themselves to accomplish something as important as making available the funds to deal with their financial responsibilities. If our elected officials would stop trying to hold the country to ransom, we could accomplish a whole lot more. If these individuals concentrate on the economy, as bad as it is to date, they may be able to wrap it up in no time and still ending up taking a cruise after all is said and done. Let us hope that someone will realize that the only one who will suffer in this crisis will be the people of this wonderful country.
