As a priest, Jesus surpassed the priests of today, maybe that was because the goal He was seeking was far greater than what we see being sought after today. The original plan that involved the old covenant was  a failure, causing a second to be initiated. God said we should be prepared for a new plan in the days ahead, one that that was made with our ancestors. Because they did not keep their end of the bargain, the new plan will not be written on paper, but chiseled in our hearts.
