Adobe Acrobat users of both version eight and nine should be aware that the zero day bug has been confirmed in both of them. Effective attacks will compromise Windows, Macintosh and Unix systems. Criminal activity in the business of hacking seems to be on the rise, with no end in sight. A quote by security information service Secunia, states that “the vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the font parsing in CoolType.dll and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.” Users should be aware of email attachments which employ pdf files. Users are “recommended to turn off JavaScript in Adobe Reader and consider it a best practice for normal desktop usage”.
Job tells us, “Don’t you even know the basics, how things have been since the earliest days, when Adam and Eve were first placed on earth? The good times of the wicked are short-lived; godless joy is only momentary. The evil might become world famous, strutting at the head of the celebrity parade, But still end up in a pile of dung. Acquaintances look at them with disgust and say, ‘What’s that?’ They fly off like a dream that can’t be remembered, like a shadowy illusion that vanishes in the light. Though once notorious public figures, now they’re nobodies, unnoticed, whether they come or go. Their children will go begging on skid row, and they’ll have to give back their ill-gotten gain. Right in the prime of life, and youthful and vigorous, they’ll die.”
Not surprisingly, there are still some people that can find nothing positive to do with their time. Infecting computers in this day and age, serves absolutely no purpose other than to wreak havoc on members of society. It is not even for profit that these criminals seek, in fact it seems as though the only thing that interests them is to observe the electronic world come to its knees. Sadly, the individuals who seek to accomplish their ill gain will never be recognized for what they think they have accomplished, because their success will never be recognized by the rest of the world as something positive.
