prejudice behavior

We wonder where we are going wrong with our children and why they are turning out to be so interested in doing things that endanger themselves and those around them. We should not be surprised by the actions that we see our children taking though, simply because in all likelihood, they are learning it from us, the parents! Children have always been impressionable, so when they observe prejudice behavior in us, it stands to reason that they will do the same. Considering all the poor examples that our leadership have been setting in the mosque situation at ground zero in New York, what a wonder that some teenagers were arrested for following through with much the same behavior.

The book of Psalms has shared the following, “Your thoughts, how rare, how beautiful! God, I’ll never comprehend them! I couldn’t even begin to count them,  any more than I could count the sand of the sea. Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with you! And please, God, do away with wickedness for good! And you murderers, out of here!  All the men and women who belittle you, God, infatuated with cheap god-imitations. See how I hate those who hate you, God, see how I loathe all this godless arrogance; I hate it with pure, unadulterated hatred. Your enemies are my enemies!”

When we use profanity and our children hear it, they usually end up using it. When we look for ways to get over on someone else and our children observe it, they usually do the same thing. Taking that drink or lighting that cigarette is a sign for you children that it is okay to do these things. Running that red light or speeding in a school zone, are both examples that if you do, so will your children. Displaying an act of prejudice is a clear sign to your children that they should act that way too.

Come running

One of the first things that we are told is this, give them what they want, the loss of items are not as important as the loss of life. Of course things are different when the money that you stand to lose could be yours and you have worked hard for it. Store managers have an obligation to secure company funds using the system that the company put in place, however once those systems have been applied and the suspected thief gets there, the manager is expected to let it go and not put up a fight against any possible robbery. This is done in an attempt to avoid harm coming to the employees and any possible customers that may be present at that time.

The book of Jeremiah states, “Just as a thief is chagrined, but only when caught, so the people of Israel are chagrined, Caught along with their kings and princes, their priests and prophets. They walk up to a tree and say, ‘My father!’ They pick up a stone and say, ‘My mother! You bore me!’ All I ever see of them is their backsides. They never look me in the face. But when things go badly, they don’t hesitate to come running, calling out, ‘Get a move on! Save us!’ Why not go to your handcrafted gods you’re so fond of? Rouse them. Let them save you from your bad times. You’ve got more gods, Judah, than you know what to do with.”

Two things upset me most, those who steal and those why lie. In my opinion, one is as bad as the other and both of them need to evaluate their actions against their fellow man. Stealing is an act that tells society that you cannot be trusted and would rather take something from another human being than go work for it yourself. Telling a lye to someone, simply displays a lack of concern for the damage that you have done or are about to do.

All that job performance

Experience is supposed to be your best teacher and I agree with that wholeheartedly, however, what if you don’t have any experience in something, how are you expected to deal with it? Evaluations on your job performance are designed to give you opportunities to improve your position within the company that you work for, so even though we may not like them, we should look forward to receiving them as they will guide and help us be better individuals. When a high school teacher in New York decided to stage a fall in an attempt to avoid a review, she must have thought that she beat the system, well she did not. What Ilene Feldman actually succeeded in doing is showing her peers that she is a failure at what she does and would rather lie and cheat than work at correcting it.

The book of Jeremiah relates, “We’re here! We’ve come back to you. You’re our own true God! All that popular religion was a cheap lie, duped crowds buying up the latest in gods. We’re back! Back to our true God, the salvation of Israel. The Fraud picked us clean, swindled us of what our ancestors bequeathed us, Gypped us out of our inheritance,  God-blessed flocks and God-given children. We made our bed and now lie in it, all tangled up in the dirty sheets of dishonor. All because we sinned against our God, we and our fathers and mothers. From the time we took our first steps, said our first words, we’ve been rebels, disobeying the voice of our God.”

Cheating and lying against the system has never proven to be successful for anyone, the fact of the matter is, sooner or later the truth will come out, whether you like it or not. When you decide that you are not prepared to accept reviews on your job performance, you should quietly move on as such a decision is a warning sign that this is not for you.
