Every born again Christian will naturally wish to lead others to Jesus Christ. Simon was advised to stay on his toes. Satan was trying his best to separate all of them from Jesus, like chaff from wheat. Jesus said, Simon, I’ve prayed for you in particular that you not give in or give out. When you have come through the time of testing, turn to your companions and give them a fresh start.”Peter resented the warning, being full of himself he responded by saying that he would never fail Jesus at any time. Peter said that he was ready to follow Jesus to prison if that was what he wanted, and even unto death. Because he was cocky, it was as though he was daring Satan to tempt him, which of course Satan did, and the rest is, as they say, history.
Jesus was undeterred and went right on to gave his charge, He said that “God had authorized and commanded Him to commission them: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” All the facilities of heaven are pledged to those who by their baptismal vows have entered into a covenant with God.
If any of you are embarrassed over Jesus and the way He is leading you when you get around your fickle and unfocused friends, know that you’ll be an even greater embarrassment to the Son of Man when he arrives in all the splendor of God, his Father, with an army of the holy angels.” Woe to you who think you live on easy street in Zion, who think Mount Samaria is the good life. You assume you’re at the top of the heap, voted the number-one best place to live. Well, wake up and look around. Get off your pedestal.
