In the past I have touched on the topic of forgiveness a few times and I feel it is important enough to reiterate again that we must always be ready to offer forgiveness, without exception. It is a natural (human) reaction to want revenge for actions taken against you, however, this desire is effected by the devil and should not be adhered to.

An unforgiving state, if allowed to fester, will only contribute to an unhealthy attitude and a depressing lifestyle. If we believe for one moment that we are causing harm to the ones on the receiving end of an unforgiving state, we are sadly mistaken. The fact is that in most cases the other party “could not care less” should not be a deciding factor, but only help us to realize who the pain of an unforgiving state will eventually be directed to.

The most important reason for forgiving others is our well being and attitude towards ourselves and how we would like to be treated as sinners. The fact that we need forgiveness daily due to our sinful nature is in itself cause to have a forgiving nature, after all, how could we ask God to forgive us our sins, if we are not prepared to forgive others for doing us wrong?

I recently had the great pleasure of paying a visit to one of this country’s great “public assistance” offices and for those of you that have been down this road, yes I hear you, it can only be expressed as an undesirable experience.

Not so fast though, for the most part, at least in the past, these trips could only be described as disastrous, but this trip was not like that. Generally government officials have a “don’t care” attitude and most of you will vouch for that, however, the officials at this office were courteous and prompt.

Having served in the food service industry for the better part of twenty years and knowing what I have been used to receiving in the past, It was a pleasure to visit this government office. It would be my guess that government (this office anyway) is tired of the complaints and jokes they have received pertaining to service and attitude.

I wander why it has always been necessary to put the public on the receiving end of poor treatment, where they would be forced to write a letter, make a phone call or lodge some type of complaint before they take steps to correct their shortcomings? In any event, better late than never.
